Week 11 Part A: Marketing with Twitter, TikTok, Google for Business, LinkedIn, and more

I decided to look at social influencers and Tik Tok, since I know the least about both of them. I think social influencers (though I really despise the term and tbh kind of the concept!!) could really help me grow my brand. For example, if I had the woman behind FamDiego sharing some of my content, it might be helpful. She mainly stays in actual San Diego, so I don't think it would be a conflict of interest or competition...but who knows! Anyway, worth a shot.

I like the idea of having an influencer write a guest post and then share it on their site. So FamDiego could come to an event with me in North County, say, and then write about our experience together. Or just tag me in her post about the event perhaps? And I could do the same.

For Tik Tok, I'm not sure how it would be too different from doing a Reel on instagram or Facebook..but maybe I could just post that content on Tik Tok as well. I know a lot of "mommy blogs" (also dislike that term haha) do little reels highlighting an event or do something along to music. So that's an idea.

I started following DateNightThingstoDo and SanDiegoBucketList on Tik Tok to get some inspiration for how to showcase upcoming events. It seems like they generally pick one place to visit and just do one zoomed in image or video reel with the name of the place on it. Super simple. And those tend to get the most attention. So I'd probably try to do the same. I didn't see FamDiego on Tik Tok, so it might be a good platform for me in terms of not "competing" with them.

As for platforms I'm already using, I use Twitter for one of my little side hustles. Mostly I just post our articles of the week there and tag the journalist who wrote it. But I also do Twitter ads for them and do a little AB testing. So I could do something similar for North County Fam. With Twitter, I think that's more a real-time share, like "Anyone going to Taste of Oceanside? or there's always tweet threads that tell a story. I could talk about a funny incident at one event I go to. Or simply share upcoming events by retweeting others' posts. That could help gain followers as well.

  1. Hey Megan, I like the idea of using Tiktok and Social influencers as well. Tiktok is huge right now and honestly would be pretty simple to use even if I don't understand it really. Social Influencers are also a good idea, personally for info about downtown Oceanside and around I follow the City's page on Instagram and Charlesthegoat.

  2. I completely agree with you with TikTok being on the rise of the social media platform. I started using it during the lockdown and my kids and I were learning dances. Now within a year, it completely evolved into many types of content being posted. I also think it's a great idea to collaborate with FamDiego. Thanksgiving break is around the corner and need some ideas to do with my kids.

  3. I also don't enjoy the concept of social influencers because it just sounds silly haha! But! It could be really helpful even just to look to them for some inspiration. I like your idea of a little collaboration with FamDiego to gain some following. It would also just be really cute for the kiddos to make friends with one another (bonus adorable content)!

  4. Hey Megan, I think that TikTok is a great platform for your business! Sometimes on my fyp I see some cool, unknown spots in San Diego. The only downside is that you're trying to target families and a lot of young adults and teenagers make up most of TikToks users. So, I doubt you'd get a lot of families viewing your TikToks. Still, I Think it's worth it because you might as well try and get as much publicity as possible.

  5. I like your idea of posting your reels on TikTok. I think it would help get more fans without having to keep on making many different posts for different social media pages. I like your idea of using social influencers too. It would help both you and the influencer at the same time because it gives the influencer something to post and get followers with and it gives you exposure to their followers. If you pay for influencers to post something, you should make sure that it's worth it because sometimes you could end up wasting money and get nothing out of it if you don't make that you will gain something from paying that social influencer.

Wk15A: Using Google Analytics to Improve your Marketing: FA22 CSIT 155 1574

I think I could use Google Analytics to see how many page views I'm getting, what time of day, how much people interact with my site, etc. I had a chance to look at what my site is doing now, and it was interesting to see how many new users I had and how long they stayed on my site.  From the reading, I was reminded to check out “What’s Trending” in various social media to see what people are talking about. I believe that was also a tip mentioned in the textbook. For example, if parents in San Diego are posting about crowded xmas tree lots, I could write a post on the "Least crowded xmas tree farms" or "Most affordable places to get your xmas tree this year." I also think I could use Google ads to increase my brand presence and target people searching for things to do in San Diego or people who had looked at similar blogs, perhaps.  It's interesting that you can also anticipate future customer actions with Google’s machine learning. That's a really cool ...

Week 6 Part B: Creating and Scheduling FaceBook Posts

This was fun! I am having a great time exploring my classmate's pages and seeing their posts. Here are the ones I visited/commented on: Amy Mather: https://www.facebook.com/Protein4PetsVista/ Kristy Yam: https://www.facebook.com/EncinitasDonuts Pablo Correa: https://www.facebook.com/PurpleTsunamiClothing/ I also posted a few things on my page ( North County Fam ) and scheduled a few upcoming posts (all below). I think these posts will engage my audience because they are fun upcoming events, include questions and utilize colorful, easy-to-view images. I'm curious to see how people engage with them!
